Our story

Our story

It all started during a dinner in the city of Venice. Quinta and Bernard were wondering about the world of wine and spirits and noticed something peculiar: while the spirits industry excelled in surprising and artistic bottle designs, the wine sector still seemed stuck in a traditional and unexciting concept – little more than a simple bottle with a label and an unpronounceable French name of the chateau – even though the product itself is excellent.

At that moment an idea was born that would grow into more than just another wine brand. Their dream: a delicious Provence rosé that would not only stand out for its taste, but also for its appearance. Countless designs followed and sample bottles were created, with mixed results of both excitement and disappointment.

But finally there was a result: a perfect rosé, a beautiful name, and, most importantly a minimalistic but stylish bottle design that would define their brand.

Bernard Witzel

Bernard Witzel (43) is a captain with a major European airline. Thanks to his extensive travels, both professionally and privately, he came into contact with the culinary scents and flavours of the world, and developed a love for wines. He delved deep into the fascinating world of wines, which ultimately resulted in becoming a vinologist at the Wijn Academie.

Over the course of 1,5 years he learned everything about the technical and commercial side about wine. In addition to flying, entrepreneurship always beckoned. Something with wine seemed obvious. Together with his younger sister Quinta, the first seeds were planted during a dinner in Venice, and Fique is the result.

Quinta Witzel

Quinta (33) left for abroad after high school to do full-time modelling. After spending years in the major fashion cities, she started a healthy food concept in Amsterdam in 2016. Poké Perfect has now grown into a national chain and currently has 14 branches. Quinta is the director of the company together with her other brother Gerrit Jan.

She is mainly responsible for the menu, the overall branding and marketing. In addition to the success of Poké Perfect, she is now focusing on Fique rosé.

Our philosophy

Our mission was simple, but not easy: to create a rosé that tastes as great as it looks. The wine market can be overwhelming, especially for rosé, so we wanted to create something special that really stood out.

We were looking for the perfect classic Provence rosé – refreshing red and white fruit, beautiful acidity and easy drinkability. The ideal partner for summer moments, whether you’re on the beach, on a boat or having a long afternoon lunch.

After tasting wines of no less than 65 wineries, we ended up with a traditional winemaking cooperative. This is where small farmers join forces to make the best quality wine. Not only great for the wine itself, but also fair because the proceeds go directly to the local hard-working farmers.

But we wanted more than just a nice wine. The wine market is full of standard bottles with standard labels. That had to change. Our challenge was to innovate in a traditional market and design a bottle that would really stand out.

The design came to life during an unforgettable sunset on the beach. We saw a spectacular array of pink hues on the horizon – and at that moment we knew. Our bottle design would be inspired by those beautiful color transitions. The result? A unique rosé in a unique bottle.

We proved that tradition and innovation can go hand in hand.

The most beautiful rosé in the most beautiful bottle – that’s Fique.
